Take a step toward starting the new year in a healthy and invigorating way—celebrate the new year with a ranger-led hike at Caprock Canyons State Park in Quitaque.
Join interpreter Juliette Garza on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. for a First Day Hike on the prairie. The Canyon Rim Trail Spur is just short of a 2-mile loop where participants get to see what the prairie has to offer Hikers should meet at the Canyon Rim Trailhead; parking is available at the Honey Flat Restrooms. The walk from the restrooms to the trailhead is a few minutes.
The distance of the hike is a bit less than two miles, with easy to moderate terrain.
Please dress for the weather, bring or wear layers. Binoculars are recommended for any potential wildlife sightings.
Program may be canceled in inclement weather. Updates will be posted on CCSP’s Facebook page.
This program is free to attend with paid park entrance ($5 per adult; kids 12 and under are free), or an annual Texas State Park Pass.
