It you’ve wanted to be in the movies, now’s your chance. And you don’t even have to travel to Hollywood.
This coming Monday, Lubbockbased Americana band Flatland Cavalry will be in Spur’s Swenson Park to film a music video—and they’re looking for extras.
According to Adam Paul Stone, director of the video, “Anyone is available to come and watch, but it's not like a concert, it is a filming process.”
Stone, who has family ties to the area, explained more about the process. “They'll be redoing the same song over and over to get new takes. Some takes will be sung and others will be lip-synced. It will be like a 4th of July party for the video.”
The team will be looking for children to run around, have sparklers and other small fireworks, he said. All ages are welcome to sign up.
Stone’s grandparents, Bob and Carlene Wright, were from Spur, and he recalled spending many summers here. His mother, Donna Dill, also lives here now, and he’s looking to “pay homage to small-town roots.” He gas previously filmed a movie, “Four Eyes,” on his grandparents’ place in Dickens in 2016.
Stone and the band will be in Spur Sunday, June 25, and Monday, June 26. Sunday will be primarily for downtown shots and some neighborhoods, while Monday will be down at the park. He says people are welcome to look for the team and say hi when they see them around.
