Five members of the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International attended the Texas State Organization’s 92th Convention, “Unlocking the Possibilities,” in Denton, Texas, June 16-19, 2021. Those attending the convention were Debbi Ball, Spur; Sharon McDougle, Crosbyton; Terri Egerton, Lubbock; Jean Williams, Lubbock; and Janie Wigley, Allen, Texas, formerly of Crosbyton. Benny Ball, Spur, accompanied Debbi Ball on the trip.
The Texas State Organization (TSO) has 230 chapters throughout Texas, with an active membership of 5,934. A highlight was the announcement of 13 collegiate members.
At the opening session on June 17, Gamma Eta was recognized along with other chapters for its project, giving, yearbook, newsletter and website. At the TSO annual meeting on June 18, Sharon McDougle was elected to the finance committee 2021–2024.
Following the TSO annual meeting was the Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation (ASTEF) annual meeting. During that meeting Debbi Ball was elected vice president of Marketing and Public Relations and Janie Wigley was elected vice president of advancement. Both terms will run 2021–2023.
On June 19 at the 92nd Birthday Celebration Brunch, Janie Wigley was awarded the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha State Texas Achievement Award. Wigley was nominated by her Gamma Eta chapter.
Five members served on state committees July 1, 2019-June 30, 2021. Those members were: Sharon McDougle, Terri Egerton, K Dee Anderson, Debbi Ball and Janie Wigley. Debbi Ball is also the TSO Webmaster.
The Mission Statement for The Delta Kappa Society International is to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Gamma Eta meetings are open to all women educators in Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Kent, King and Motley Counties.
