The Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held its January 10, 2022 meeting at Lubbock Christian University’s library. Ten members present enjoyed a meal provided by the Lubbock Hostess Group.
A Ceremony of Remembrance for Melinda Jayne (Lindy) Stafford (June 1, 1944–Dec. 6, 2020) was presented by Chelsea Read and Nancy Harrison, Matador; Brenda Karr, Dickens; Sharon McDougle, Crosbyton; and Donna Anderson, Lubbock. The ceremony remembered Lindy as an educator, a loyal DKG member and a special friend.
The program, “Documenting our DKG Journey,” was presented by K Dee Anderson, Lubbock. Anderson provided a handout to help members document their education, service to DKG, and work history. Members discussed providing a time to look back at Gamma Eta’s yearbooks to help fill in missing information.
A business meeting was conducted by Terri Egerton, Lubbock. Egerton led discussion on the upcoming TSO 2022 Lubbock Convention, ASTEF information on February Giving Month’s “Gratitude for our DKG Journey,” and induction of new member Candace Zarate of Spur.
The Gamma Eta Angel was presented to Brenda Karr by Chelsea Read.
The next Gamma Eta meeting will be Monday, March 7, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Matador. Women educators from Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Kent, King and Motley Counties are invited to attend.
