Here we are again at that most rewarding time of year for graduates and their families—and the teachers, administrators, fans and community members who have cheered them on during twelve years of studies and achievements.
It’s a moment to celebrate.
But I’ll say this, from the hot seat of the editor’s desk as well as the long-ago experience of being an honors student and a valedictorian myself: if ever a mistake is going to happen, it will, inexplicably, occur in graduation info.
On last week’s page one, as well as in the senior profiles for Spur High School graduates, we made several of those. Chalk it up to immovable deadlines, lots of moving parts, and too little sleep, but errors in our graduate profiles are ones we especially regret making.
In these pages you’ll find reprinted profiles of all 30 Spur graduates—a record number in recent years. We’ve made the fixes that were submitted to us, or at least we hope we have. Spur grads, please accept our repeated congratulations along with the repeated content. And if any of you are considering a future in journalism, keep in mind that there are rewarding jobs waiting for you in newspapers everywhere. Including this one, where anyone with an eagle eye would be welcomed.
