The Greenhouse to bring more ‘green’ to Jayton soon

Coffee shop, plant store combo will open on Main Street

In a town the size of Jayton, Texas, it’s hard not to notice when a commercial building changes hands. But locals won’t have to wait too much longer for the doors to the former Boots & Spurs Café at 364 North Main Street to reopen, according to new co-owner Jodie Reel.

The Greenhouse—which as of last week sports a new exterior gray-and-white paint scheme and a new sign board—will launch soon as a coffee shop and a vendor of indoor and outdoor plants, he said.

Summer Reel, who hails from Paint Creek in Haskell, is a horticulturalist who operates Reel Plant Farms there. She’ll bring her special talents to what husband Jodie describes as “an added element to make this new venture a bit unique.”

While the couple does not expect the business to be a traditional café, Reel said they plan to “serve most standard drinks folks have come to expect of a coffee shop, along with some grab-and-go food options.”

They are waiting on some equipment to be delivered, as they continue a complete renovation of the building. Opening date and hours are to be announced soon, he said.
