Volunteers are needed to help with regular “duties” at the course. The duties include picking up trash, limbs and debris, emptying trash cans, cleaning bathrooms and clubhouse and taking care of any ongoing repairs. Work days are scheduled each Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. So, if you find yourself with a little extra time on your hands, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
The 8th Annual Fat Daddy’s Scramble will take place at the course on Saturday, July 30. It will be a day of fun and most likely just a smidge of all-in-good-humor trash talking. Contact Landon White at (806) 422-0090 or Tyler Luke at (806) 269-1606 to get your team signed up. There will be a meal provided.
Mark your calendars for August 27 and 28 for the Two Jacks and a Jill Tournament. The entry fee is $200 per team. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Tee-off times will be 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. A meal will be provided. A Calcutta will take place following the Saturday afternoon round.
Saturday, September 24, will be here before you know it! Get your team signed up and join in on the 4-person Schamble. A “Schamble” format is that all team members will tee off from the box. All team members will then play their own ball to the hole from the team’s best drive. It will be interesting and tons of fun, and laughs will be had! The entry fee is $200 per team, and a meal will be provided. Contact Landon White or Tyler Luke to get your team entered.
The drawing for the 2022 Club Car Onward, Ping G425 Max Driver, and Odyssey White Hot Putter will take place following the Schamble on September 24. Tickets are $100 each. If you have not purchased your chance to win yet, get in touch with any SGA board member! Somebody is going to be a winner, so you might as well get in on the chance to take a prize home.
The next board meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Wednesday, August 10, beginning at 6 p.m. All members are welcome to attend.
Scramble results, July 12
It was a hot and breezy scorcher for Scramble Time Tuesday on July 12. Five teams were made, and three places were paid out.
Taking home the first place money for the week was the team of Jimmy Ashley, Kendra Atkinson, Leo Day and Cammie Walker with their score of 5 under par and a score of 31.
The team of Kevin Bass, Larry Bass, Gene Everhart and Reid Arnold, the team of Jason Tanner, Mike and Janie Day and Ralph Frausto and the team of Russell and Dana Conrad, Riley Abbott Daniel Perez and Justin Posey all came back to the clubhouse after the regular round tied at 4 under par and scores of 32. A playoff ensued, and the team of Bass, Bass, Everhart and Arnold prevailed for second place with an eagle on the first playoff hole.
The two remaining teams continued on to compete for the third place winnings. The team of Tanner, Day, Day and Frausto won with their birdie putt on the second playoff hole.
Congratulations to Don Kaneski for winning the closest-to-the-pin money on No. 8 hole with a drive of 7 feet 6 inches.
No one parked a drive on the No. 1 Hole, so that money pot will roll over and continue to grow.
I leave you this thought for the week: “Resolve never to quit, never to give up, no matter what the situation” —Jack Nicklaus
