Jaybird Ice is a refreshing new business in Jayton that came together when two friends, Reese Redford, 13, and Brantley Ham, 10, decided they wanted to have their very own snow-cone shop.
After lots of brainstorming with their moms, Missy Recford and Tiffany Ham, the girls produced a business plan and recruited several friends to work the business with them. The shaved ice goodies are Bahama Bucks–inspired and just as tasty.
These young entrepreneurs are learning the aspects of running a business, such as doing inventory, counting money and learning great customer service skills. Brantley, Reese and friends all love creating new flavors and decorating each shaved-ice cone with super fun and sweet treats to make the Jaybird Ice experience exciting and fun for all!
Customers can find their shop inside the Kent County General Store on Main Street in Jayton. They are open Monday– Friday 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday 1 to 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. You can also find them on Facebook at Jaybird ICE.
