Last week was a pleasant one all around, for a multi-class, multi-event Jayton-Girard ISD Homecoming. With activities from dances to parades to pep rallies to auctions and vendors to football matchups, the Jaybirds showed how homecoming is done.
“We closed out Homecoming 2023 with a worship service in the auditorium,” read a post on the event’s Facebook page. “Thanks to everyone who made this weekend such a great celebration of Jayton, we’ll see you again in 2025!”
The Jayton ex-student who travelled the farthest was Leslie Partridge from the class of 1978.
Here is Patridge’s story: He started in Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, took a 12-hour flight to London, drove from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport, then caught a ten-hour flight to Austin, Texas, where he stayed the night.
He then drove the five hours to Jayton.
His route totaled about 10,800 miles.
