In the regular monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board of trustees on June 27, 2022, trustees approved adding baseball and softball to JGISD’s student athletics program.
The motion to add baseball as a sport for JGISD was made by Amanda McGee and seconded by Andy Vargas. The board voted as follows: Jeff Arnold, against; B.J. Baldridge, for; Steven Collins, for; L’Rae Lee, against; Amanda McGee, for; Cody Scott, for; Andy Vargas, for.
In other board action, trustees agreed to call for vehicle fuel and propane bids and to call for vendors for personal property valued between $10,000 and $25,000 for the 2022–23 fiscal year.
Trustees also approved the annual review of Investment Policies and Procedures as presented.
The board then approved Laci Scogin as the investment officer for Jayton-Girard ISD.
In other action, trustees approved the request for county permanent school funds in the amount of $22,437.75 for capital improvements.
The superintendent’s report included a report on school safety, school guard, TRE, RFQ and construction manager.
The board voted to appoint Jeff Arnold and Steven Collins to the Kent County Appraisal District board. The motion carried unanimously.
No action was taken on personnel. However, the board agreed to offer Mary Kate Chisum a 10-month probationary contract. The board also voted to approve salaries for 2022–23 school year as presented.
