In the regular monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board April 27, 2023, trustees approved improvements to the football field turf.
In a motion made by Amanda McGee and seconded by Andy Vargas, the boardunanimouslyvotedto approve Option 1 from Hellas Construction for Football Field Turf as presented.
Superintendent Layne Sheets updated the board on the JGISD house sale posting, preliminary tax values, new fencing at school houses, trailer houses in the process of beingmoved,andproposed legislative bills.
In a motion made by Jeff Arnold and seconded by Cody Scott, trustees voted unanimously to approve the 2023–24 school calendar as presented.
In a motion made by Jeff Arnold and seconded by Andy Vargas, trustees voted unanimously to approve the Safety Audit and Teacher Survey as presented.
The board then entered closed session at 8:21 p.m. and exited at 10:26 p.m.
In a motion made by Amanda McGee and seconded by Cody Scott, trustees voted unanimously to approve teacher contracts for the 2023–24 school year as presented.
The next regular meeting and canvass of school board election votes was set for May 15, 2023 at 7 p.m.
Board members present were B.J. Baldridge, Jeff Arnold, Amanda McGee, Steven Collins, Cody Scott, L’Rae Lee and Andy Vargas.
School officials present were Layne Sheets, superintendent; Nathan Branum, principal; Laci Scogin, business manager; and Keith Emfinger, network administrator.
Mark Ball of Hellas was present for the Turf Proposal.
