In the regular monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board of trustees on April 19, discussions began about the school adding baseball as a UIL sport. No action was taken on adding baseball at this time.
Visitors on hand to discuss baseball included: Samantha Spray, Stephen Reynolds, Lance Spray, Sean Stanaland, Bode Ham and Dayton Bleiker.
In other board action, trustees approved an amount of $48,341.76 for capital improvements.
Superintendent Layne Sheets led a discussion on preliminary budget projections for 2021–22 and 2022–23 and no action was taken.
Trustees then approved the 2022–23 School Calendar as presented.
The board held a discussion on the Education Foundation and the Summer Leadership Institute, but no action was taken.
Principal Nathan Branum reviewed HB3 Student Outcome Goals.
Trustees then approved TASB Risk Management Fund Interlocal Participation Agreement and Teacher Contracts.
The board then entered into closed session at 9:37 p.m. for personnel and returned to regular session at 10:14 p.m. then the meeting adjourned at 10:42 p.m.
Board members present were president L’Rae Lee and trustees Jeff Arnold, Amanda McGee, Connie Martinez, B.J. Baldridge, Cody Stanaland and Cody Scott.
School officials present were wuperintendent Layne Sheets, principal Nathan Branum and business manager Laci Scogin.
