In the monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board of trustees Dec. 16, 2021, principal Nathan Branum updated the group on Stop the Bleed training, benchmarks, staff meal, the Christmas program, the Jaybirds’ 11-2 football season, junior high and elementary UIL competition, and junior high, junior varsity and varsity basketball rolling out.
Trustees then recognized state qualifiers in cross country.
No audit report was yet available from Newberry, Leonard, Horton, and Bairrington, but the firm expects to have the report at the next board meeting.
Board training hours were presented to trustees.
The school board then approved the superintendent’s evaluation instrument as presented.
Trustees also approved a new security camera proposal.
The board considered a new vehicle proposal, but no action was taken.
The board considered a LED light proposal, but no action was taken.
The board considered logo options for a trailer, but no action was taken.
The board considered employee health insurance options, but no action was taken.
The next meeting was set for January 20, 2022 at 7 p.m.
All members were present, including L’Rae Lee, president; Amanda McGee, B.J. Baldridge, Connie Martinez, Cody Stanaland, Cody Scott and Jeff Arnold.
School officials present were Layne Sheets, superintendent; Nathan Branum, principal; Laci Scogin, business manager; and Roger Smetak, network administrator.
