COMPILED FROM MINUTES
meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board of trustees on March 24 at 6 p.m., the board entered in to closed session at 6:06 p.m. to seek and receive legal advice from the District’s legal counsel in closed session under Texas Government Code 551.071 regarding pending litigation and/or settlement offer, Long v. Jayton ISD, et. al., and returned to regular session at 6:25 p.m.
In other action, in a motion made by Connie Martinez, seconded by B.J. Baldridge, trustees unanimously approved the use of County Permanent School Funds in the amount of $241,059.09 for capital improvements.
In a motion made by B.J. Baldridge, seconded by Cody Scott trustees unanimously approved the LED Light Proposal as presented. All voted in favor.
In a motion made by Cody Stanaland, seconded by Cody Scott, trustees unanimously voted to approve aresolution to convene the district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) to recommend curriculum materials for human sexuality instruction.
The board then entered into closed session for personnel at 6:37 p.m. and returned to regular session at 7:08 p.m..
In final action, the board heard a presentation on establishing an educational foundation. No action was taken.
The next board meeting was set for April 19, 2022 at 7 p.m.
In attendance at the March meeting were L’Rae Lee, president; B.J. Baldridge, Cody Stanaland, and Jeff Arnold; Connie Martinez, who arrived at 6:25 p.m.; and Cody Scott, who arrived at 6:30 p.m. Amanda McGee was absent.
School officials present were Layne Sheets, superintendent, Laci Scogin, business manager and Roger Smetak, network administrator.
