At the monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District on Monday, Nov. 6, trustees certified the results of the November 3 election, and new board member Jeff Arnold was sworn in by Kelsi Stanaland.
The principal’s report included Covid updates, virtual learning and teaching, playoffs, basketball NFHS, JH OAP, Area Ag Contest at Anson, Elementary and JH UIL, and Christmas band concert.
The Superintendent’s report included Covid “score,” recent construction updates (tennis courts have been poured, daycare building is moving along well, and first school housing is arriving next week)w.
No action was taken on an appeal by Robert Stewart to forgo taxes, penalty and interest.
The board approved the West Texas Food Service Cooperative Interlocal Agreement as presented, approved the request for County Permanent School Funds in the amount of $229,518.10 for capital improvements, approved the price quote from Child’s Play, Inc., for the daycare playground as presented, and approved the price quote from Fraser Concrete as presented for the new school houses. All motions passed unanimously.
No action was taken for Evaluations and Improving Student Outcomes Training; the board will try to schedule the matter for the meeting of December 15, 2020.
No action was taken on Educational Foundation. There was discussion only, and the board will revisit the matter soon.
No action was taken on considering patio roofs for new school houses. Cole Carpenter and Cody Stanaland will donate their time to show ag students, along with Mr. Hernandez, how to construct patios.
The next board meeting is scheduled for December 15, 2020, with time to be decided after scheduling board training.

School officials present were superintendent Trig Overbo, principal Lyle Lackey, business manager Laci Scogin (remote), network administrator Roger Smetak and administrative assistant Kelsi Stanaland.
