It’s been five years since Lubbock television station KCBD (Channel 11) brought its hugely popular Community Coverage summer tour to Spur— but the station has confirmed it’s selected Spur for the Tuesday night of its 2022 event, on July 26.
According to Spur mayor Louise Jones, there will be a planning and information meeting Thursday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at the Spur Dickens County Museum downtown Burlington. Jones has contacted local business owners to recruit key representatives at this meeting.
The format of the Community Coverage Tour involves live broadcasts of the station’s 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts from a site within the selected city. Games, T-shirt giveaways, a picnic-style dinner and ice cream, and community exhibits are all part of the fun.
In August 2017, Spur hosted the Community Coverage Tour on the Swenson Park football field and track.
