KCBD-TV/NBC 11, Lubbock featured the Jayton Jaybirds last week in their “Pigskin Preview.” Sports director Pete Christy interviewed head football coach Josh Stanaland about the Jaybirds’ prospects for the new season.
Here’s how Christy described the outlook for the team: “The Jayton Jaybirds look to fly high again under Head Coach Josh Stanaland. Preseason ranked #3 by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine, the Jaybirds will look to make another deep run.”
Stanaland told Christy, “We are fortunate to return a lot of good players, and the kids are hungry. We are fired up. We are going to try to get better every day. We are going to work hard, and it’s going to be fun.”
Last year, the Jaybirds finished 11-2 and lost in the quarterfinals to Motley County, who went on to play for the state championship.
