KCBD-TV’s sports editor Pete Christy has been profiling area teams this month in Pigskin Preview.
Last week, Christy went to Patton Springs and this is what he reported: “Coming off a 2-8 season, the Patton Springs Rangers have a new head coach as Amherst assistant Juan Salas takes over out in Afton.”
Christy said that Salas “has some strong returning players and he thinks the Rangers can surprise some folks this season.”
Christy added that Patton Springs is probably the smallest school the Lubbock-based television station covers in high school athletics.
In the past Patton has battled numbers, but lately they have played a full 10-game schedule, Christy informed viewers. “Despite being in a district with Motley County and Jayton, The Rangers will have playoff hopes,” he said.
