Jake Edwards, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jayton, has accepted a minster’s position at Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Texas. In Jayton, Edwards served on the city council, announced the football games and also led the Lions Club as president this past year.
The Kent County Lions Club wrote the following tribute: “Kent County Lions Club is home to some of the very best Lions members anywhere, and it’s always difficult when we have to wish one of those members well as they move on to another location.
“Our 2021–22 president, Jake Edwards, is one such member. Having grown up in a home where membership in the organization was important, Jake came to our club with a true Lions servant heart. It is that service oriented approach that he will be remembered for as we think about all the ways he contributed to our club for the last six years, not only through his attendance but also in the leadership role he played in events conducted by our club.
“And besides all that Jake was the ‘Best Bingo Caller’ for miles around!! As appreciation for all those contributions new President Christy Long recognized him with a gift at the regular meeting Monday, wishing him well as he and his family move to their new church home in the coming weeks.”
