It’s livestock show time again in Kent County, a tradition that exceeds eight decades of featuring local 4-H and FFA youngsters and their animals. The show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12–13, 2024, at the Kent County Stock Show Barn in Clairemont. No school classes are scheduled for Jayton-Girard ISD on Friday, Jan. 12.
This year, Jayton-Girard FFA is in charge of the concession stand. For this event to run smoothly, leaders are asking for help from all Jayton FFA and Jayton FFA Junior members and their parents. “The money raised from the concession stand will go back to the FFAchaptertobenefitallFFAmembers (not just the ‘stock show’ kids),” the organization posted on social media. They’re requesting folks to sign up to help with a shift at the concessions stand and bring packaged or homemade treats to be sold. Signup is via Google Docs, with links on the Jayton-Girard FFA Facebook page.
Tickets can be purchased from a committee member or at the Kent County Extension Office or any show board member. The drawing will be held at the stock show on Saturday during the awards presentation.
