On the afternoon of June 12, the regular session of the Kent County commissioners’ court reconvened following a lunch recess, and conducted the following business through late afternoon.
A renewal bond for county treasurer Christy Long was approved.
The court elected to advertise for bids for paving the runway at the Kent County Airport.
The court approved a reinvestment of Permanent School Funds in the amount of $580,000 at a rate of 3% and maturity in one year, at Kent County State Bank.
Following a closed session lasting an hour and 56 minutes, the court approved hiring Kevin Burchett for a position in the county road and bridge department.
CLARIFICATION In our coverage of Kent County Commission action last week (June 15, 2023) we reported that “the question was raised regarding eligibility for an employee retention tax credit related to the Covid-19 period, with a figure of $1.2 million possible to be regained and an accounting cost of about $3,200.” Judge Coulter has clarified that the figures cited related to the experience of another facility, not the Kent County Nursing Home.
