A public hearing was held
at the Kent County courthouse August 22, 2022 on the proposed county budget for 2022– 23, along with a public hearing on the tax increase for year 2022. The hearing concluded at 9:35 a.m., after which the regular session of commissioners’ court was held.
Motions were made and approved to adopt and approve the 2022–23 budget, and to approve the 2022 tax rate.
Brad Chisum with the Kent County EMS met with the court to present an update on Kent County activities, and to report on disposing of out-of-date medications; and other matters.
County librarian Joy Williams Miller met with the Court to discuss a 30-hour work week. No action was taken.
Judge Jim White announced to the court a renewal for a storage site for Streamline Marketing located on county lands in League 264, Labor 2, Dawson County, Texas. For the Kent County Nursing Home, administrator Jordon Moeller updated the court on operations, and introduced new director of nursing Diane Saucedo. Moeller reported a resident census of 46. In other business, the court approved payment of bills, road machinery use, and minutes of regular court meeting of July 3, 2022 and emergency meeting of July 12, 2022. Present were County Judge Jim C. White, commissioners Don Long, Daryl Ham and Robert Graham, and County Clerk Craig Harrison. Commissioner Roy Chisum was absent. The court’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2022.
