Kent County sets annual Winterfest fun for Dec. 1

Kent County’s annual family-friendly Winterfest, held in several locations in downtown Jayton, returns this year on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The event is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m., beginning at the Kent County Emergency Services Building, 831 South Highway 70, with holiday shopping, a Sweet Shop with homemade pies and drinks, and pictures with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

The JGISD junior class will also serve a meal that will be open to the public.

Then, at 7 p.m., the Kent County Lions Club hosts “Cook ies and Hot Chocolate at the Square,” with treats for sale before, during, and after the Electric Light Parade, which will line up at 7:15 at the First Baptist Church on Highway 70 and end at the Square.

Lighting of the community Christmas trees will take place at the conclusion of the parade, about 7:30 p.m.
