We know folks in Kent County are excited at the prospect of having fuel again soon, and we apologize for mistaking some of the facts of the transaction last week.
Phillip Wright of Lonestar Hardware Sales & Service called to say that last week’s page-one story confused some of the facts. We’re in complete agreement with Wright that Legacy Fuels, purchaser of the Kent County Coop gas pumps, deserves full credit for their commitment to serving Jayton and environs by restoring the pumps to operation.
“We did indeed purchase the building and the lots off of the Main Street,” Wright explained to the Texas Spur last Thursday, and posted on Facebook for clarification. “Legacy Fuels purchased the pump property and will be responsible for getting gas and diesel up and going. Legacy Fuels will have full and unrestricted access to the electronics that are located inside the building, and we will assist them in anything they may need to get the fuel pumps back in service.”
Below is the rundown of Coop parcels purchased during the recent Kent County sheriff’s sale, with details provided by the sheriff’s office.
Wright added, “We are very excited about all of the opportunities that are presenting in Jayton. We want to offer a variety of services to the community and surrounding communities as well. It will range from tire services to farm/ranch supplies, and hardware. We will also be opening a small store where the old Fillin' Station used to be. It will be a place to get a nice cold fountain drink, a bite to eat, and a variety of staples for everyday living. Please be patient with us during this time as we are striving and working very diligently about getting both of these stores up and running. We have a GREAT team of employees and would like to give appreciation in all that they have done and are doing in assisting to get these great ventures going! We could not do this on our own! We want to thank everyone for their support and look forward to providing these services to all!”
