If you missed the showing of “Destination Marfa” at the Palace Theater on Saturday October 23, You will be pleased to know the library was donated a copy of the movie. Thanks to the Texas Spur you can check out the movie on DVD. The science fiction film was written and directed by Lockney native Andy Stapp. The independent film has won numerous awards. Stapp’s inspiration came from the legendary phenomenon of the Marfa lights, a popular tourist attraction in the far West Texas Town of Marfa which hosts the annual Marfa Lights Festival.
I am currently listening to Liane Moriarity’s “Big Little Lies” on the library’s Overdrive. The book is available at the library. I haven’t watched the HBO series yet, but I plan to once I’ve finished listening to the book. I have listened to another book by Moriarity on Overdrive called “9 Perfect Strangers.” I also watched the limited series on Hulu based on the book. I really enjoyed both the book and the series, even though they were very different.
Also available at the library is “The Boys” by Ron Howard and Clint Howard. “Happy Days,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” “Gentle Ben”—these shows captivated millions of TV viewers in the ’60s and ’70s. Join award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard and audiencefavorite actor Clint Howard as they frankly and fondly share their unusual family story of navigating and surviving life as sibling child actors.
We also have “Call of the Raven.” An action-packed and gripping adventure by bestselling author Wilbur Smith about one man’s quest for revenge, the brutality of slavery in America and the imbalance between humans that can drive or defeat us. Also from master of adventure fiction Smith and released in April of this year we have “Legacy of War,” a nailbiting story of courage, bravery, rebellion and war.
Check it all out at the library.
