New books, new readers at the Spur library

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 15. A representative from South Plains Community Action Partnership will be at the library from noon until 4 p.m. to visit with you about health insurance options and how to get covered.

I am working on some dates to have a demonstration here at the library on how to utilize our new library catalog to your advantage. There are many things you can do online yourself, such as renew your library card, renew your checked out book, and update your personal information. In the upcoming weeks we will initiate Gabby, a texting feature within the new system, and we will also initiate the ability to pay library fines within your online library account.

It is exciting to be able to bring the library up to speed with the technology available to us. Speaking of technology, the T-Mobile Hotspots furnished by the Tocker Foundation have been a popular addition to the services the library brings to the community. We have had many of them checked out by patrons who either didn’t have Internet at home, or were going on a trip and used the hotspot on their travels. There are no fees associated with the hotspots. Call or come by the library if you would like additional information on any of the new technology we have available for our community.
