LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

We got quite a large shipment of large print books at the library this past week.

There were a variety of genres, from Western to suspense to Christian fiction.

Danielle Steel tells an unforgettable story about a famed hotel, where a few complications quickly escalate into a matter of life and death, changing the lives of everyone who passes through its doors, in her novel “Complications.”

Maggie Black’s inspirational suspense novel “Runaway Witness” is actionpacked with mystery and suspense.

A Kirkus starred review calls Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s “Bloodless” “weird and wonderful fun.”

After a rocky jaunt in Maine, Stone Barrington is settling back in New York City when an old client reaches out for help with a delicate matter. A feud they thought was put to rest long ago has reemerged with a vengeance, and reputations and money are now on the line in Stuart Woods’ “Class Act.”

Perfect for fans of murder mystery books and suspenseful thrillers alike, “No Woods So Dark as These” by Randall Silvis explores the atrocities humans are capable of when pushed to their limits.

It’s November 1991. Nirvana’s in the tape deck, George H. W. Bush is in the White House, and movie-obsessed college student Charlie Jordan is in a car with a man who might be a serial killer. One thing is certain, Charlie has nowhere to run and no way to call for help. Trapped in a terrifying game of cat and mouse played out on pitchblack roads and in neon-lit parking lots, Charlie knows the only way to win is to survive the night in this thriller by Riley Sager called “Survive the Night.”

From Spur award winner Brett Cogburn—greatgrandson of the real Rooster Cogburn—we have “This Side of Hell,” a Widowmaker Jones Western book. The most famous lady gambler of the Old West teams up with Jones in a doomed search for lost treasure, a deadly trek through the desert, and a dangerous alliance with the greatest gunslingers in history.

Check it out at the library.
