LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

Courtesy of the Writers’ League of Texas and the Tocker Foundation we are honored to host the Texas Writes Program at the Dickens County Spur Public Library. There will be two programs, “Writers of the Purple Sage: Adding Western Elements to your Work” with Tex Thompson, and “The Path to Publication” with Becka Oliver. To pre-register for the event, call the library at (806) 271-3714. Walk-ins will be accepted if room is available. The event will take place at the library on Saturday May 14, 2022 at 10 a.m. and should last a couple of hours. The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided. If you are an aspiring author or just curious about the process please join us.

We have added quite a few DVDs to our book sale room for a donation of $1 each or $6 for five. These are only for titles no longer available to check out. We have also added many new books to the back room where the Friends of the Library have the books for sell. There are many by popular bestselling authors. We have many by James Patterson, John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, and Catherine Coulter, just to name a few.

The donated children’s books are all entered into our computers now and ready to be checked out. For the littlest ones we have these titles in board books: “My First Book of Bedtime Rhymes” by Gaby Hansen, “Grandma Loves You” by Joanna Spathis, “Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?” by Eric Carle, “Jonah and the Big Fish” by Clair Page, “My Name is Moses” by Greg Holder, “My Name is David” by Diana Stortz, “No No Noah” by Dandi Daley Mackall, “Good Morning Good Night” by Melanie Mitchell, and “The Ugly Duckling” by Tucker Slingsby.

In the easy reader section we have added “Great Explorer Atlas,” “The Atlas of Food,” “Grumpy Cat” by Brita Teckentrup, “Dora the Explorer: Dora Loves Boots,” “Grandmother’s Book of Promises” by Karen Hill and illustrated by David Clar, “No Matter What You Do” by Linda McBride and illustrated by Alfredo Silva, “Sally Goes to the Farm” by Steven Huneck, “Llama, Llama, Mad at Mama” by Anna Dewdney, “Don’t Rock the Ark” by Elizabeth Roger, “Growing in Faith” by Helen Caswell, and “Way to Go Zoe” by Kara McMahon.

Check it all out at the library.
