LIBRARY NOTES

DONNICE CARRUTH | SPECIAL TO THE TEXAS SPUR

Mom and I were both out of town this past week. Penny Martin did a great job filling in for us.

While we were gone we received a couple of packages from New York. At the gravesite of author and Spur native Aaron Latham graveside services a few weeks ago, his wife, Lesley Stahl, asked if the library would like a few copies of “Grandma Prairie Dog’s Unwelcome Visitor” and “Pink Ice Cream,” written by Aaron’s mother, Launa Latham. We received the books this past week.

We also received new books for our shelves. USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Coleen Hoover is quite popular with young adults and adults alike. We added two of her books this week. “Maybe Someday” is a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance and “Maybe Now” the long-awaited finale to the bestselling Maybe Someday series returns with all the characters you fell in love with.

Just released September 27, 2022, we have “Treasure State” from C.J. Box. In Montana, a killer view can mean more than just the scenery, and private investigator Cassie Dewell knows much darker things hide behind the picturesque landscape of Big Sky country. This highly anticipated follow-up to “The Bitterroots” is full of twists and turns.

In large print we have “The Law of the Land.” Sixteen stories, where good meets bad, and everything in between, from the legendary author of the West Elmer Kelton. “The Law of the Land” chronicles some of Kelton’s most exciting and dangerous tales of the old West, collected together for the first time, including the never-before-published “Biscuits for a Bandit.”

For our younger audience with a passion for horses, we have added a couple of new titles, “A Horse for Kate” by Miralee Ferrell and “Sparkling Jewel” from the Silver Pony Ranch series by D.L. Green and illustrated by Emily Wallis. The Silver Pony Ranch series is full of ponies, puppies, and adventure!

Check it all out at the library.
