LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

DONNICE CARRUTH | SPECIAL TO THE TEXAS SPUR

We are in the planning stages of having a couple of crafting classes at the library in the next few weeks. It has been a while since we have done one. Charlotte Sprayberry is working on another game night as well. I think everyone is ready for some fun, games, and crafting. Let me know if you want to be on our call/ text list for craft or game night or both. You can stop by or call the library and let us know.

There are a few new faces around town and we at the library would like to welcome you and invite you to come by and see

what all we have to offer. One of those new faces is Sabra Lowe, and she has been volunteering here at the library. She is a joy to be around and is doing a great job helping out.

For fans of terror of the deep we have New York Times bestselling author Steve Alten’s “Meg: Generations.” From number one internationally bestselling author of “The House at Riverton,” Kate Morton we have “The Forgotten Garden,” a novel that will take the reader on an unforgettable journey through generations and across continents as two women try to uncover their family’s secret past. A fiftyyear- old cold case involving California royalty comes back to life with potentially fatal consequences in “Back to the Garden,” a gripping standalone novel from the New York Times bestselling author Laurie R. King.

We have quite a few new board books for our littlest readers. We have “I Love You Like No Otter,” beautifully illustrated by Sydney Hanson and written by Rose Rossner. We also have a cute tale about a smelly puppy in “Three Minute Tales: Puppies,” and a touch and feel book called “Monsters.” From authors Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson and illustrated by Melissa Iwai we have “Noah, Noah, What Do You See?” Little readers love interactive books and we have “All Better!” by Henning Lohlein and Bernd Penners which includes reusable 5 bandage stickers. We have two lift the flap books, “Glittercorn and Friends” and Disney’s “Frozen II: Explore the North.” Just in time for Halloween we have “Five Little Monkeys: Trick or Treat” by Eileen Christelow.

Check it all out at the library.
