LIBRARY NOTES

New books, new readers at the Spur library

DONNICE CARRUTH | SPECIAL TO THE TEXAS SPUR

Merry Christmas from all of us at the library. We have had a great year! We had a great turnout for our Christmas craft evening. We made bookmarks, tissue paper flowers, and snowmen earrings. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Thank you so much to Carson Rutledge and everyone at Spur Hardware and the Mercantile for your nice donation of supplies to the library. If you haven’t visited the new Mercantile, you really should go check it out. The place is amazing. The community is fortunate to have such a nice place to shop.

The library received memorials recently for C.J. Walker and Louise Wright. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.

There are quite a few people who are dealing with colds, sinus, flu and other illnesses. Hopefully everyone will get to feeling better soon. If you are feeling bad and especially if you are running a fever, please don’t spread it by going to places like the stores and library. I will gladly drop off some reading material to anyone who doesn’t feel well. Just give us a call at the library at (806) 271-3714. Let me know what you like to read and I can drop a bag of paperback books outside your house.

New to the library this past week in large print we have “Bark to the Future.” Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie series continues the adventurous New York Times and USA Today bestselling series that Stephen King calls “without a doubt the most original mystery series currently available.”

Also in large print we have the New York Times bestselling master of suspense Jeffrey Deaver with a riveting thriller, as reward seeker Colter Shaw plunges into the woods and races the clock in a case where nothing is quite what it seems.

“A Hard Day for a Hangover” by Darynda Jones is laugh-out-loud funny, and brimming with big-hearted characters; it’s also available in large print.
