The Friends of the Library would like to thank each and every one who supported the library by coming out to the Chili Dog/Frito Pie supper at the Spur Community Center, everyone who bought raffle tickets, and everyone who donated or bid on items in our silent auction. We would also like to thank Eric and Linda Swenson for their generosity and support of the library.
Special thanks go to our local businesses who, without their support, none of this would be possible. Cap Rock Telephone Cooperative came through for us when we realized we didn’t have Wi-Fi to conduct our online part of the silent auction that night by, providing us with a secure Wi-Fi connection for the evening. This is in addition to them already providing us with bottled water and items for the silent auction. Thank you to Jimmy Whitefield, Yolanda, Jay, and all of the folks at Cap Rock.
Thank you to James at Lawrence Brothers Grocery, all of the good people at South Plains Electric Coop, Laurie and Christie at Helping Hands Clothes and Stuff, Jeromy, Carson, and Michelle at Spur Hardware/Mercantile, Texas Big Sky Photography, the folks at Pitchfork Ranch, and Rock House Candy. Thank you to everyone who donated an item for the silent auction.
I would personally like to thank the Dickens County-Spur Public Library board of trustees for all of your hard work and dedication for your community and the library. These are the people behind the scenes who help keep the library a vital part of our community; John Schmidt, president, Tom Martin, vice president, Kristy Price, secretary, Ineta Cannon, Mandy Henry, Leslee Hindman, Gladys Hinson, Penny Martin, Darla Thomason, and Merla Watson.
There is one spot open on the board, and if you love your community and library and would like to be a part of this great team come by the library and pick up a form to fill out and return to the library by May 1, 2023. All candidates will be considered by the library board of trustees and the Spur city council.
Parents and caregivers of toddlers, don’t forget to join us on Tuesdays at 3:00 for story time with Charlotte. Last week the children learned some basic sign language. It will be fun to see what Miss Charlotte has in store for the kiddos next time.
Check it all out at the library.
