It has been a hectic few weeks at the library, but the Chili Dog/Frito Pie fundraiser and silent auction is behind us now. We only have a couple of items that have not been picked up from the silent auction. If yours was the winning bid and you haven’t picked up your item, please make arrangements to do so.
We had been thinking about doing away with our DVD collection. It seems everyone has gone to streaming movies and no one had been checking them out. We have had a resurgence of interest in DVDs in the last few weeks, so instead of thinning out the collection we have added to it.
We now have “Mamma Mia!” starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth, with newcomers Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper. The movie is based on the Broadway smash-hit and filled with the ABBA songs you know and love—it’s the feel-good experience that will have you singing and dancing over and over again.
We also added to the DVD shelves “Saving Mr. Banks.” Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, and Paul Giamatti bring to life the untold true story about the origins of one of the most treasured Disney classics of all time. This acclaimed film reveals the surprising backstory behind the making of Mary Poppins.
“The Greatest Showman,” starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zack Efron, celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
We live in a democracy, but there are quite a few Americans who are very intrigued by England’s royal family. Prince Harry, the youngest son of now King Charles and the late Princess Diana brings a little of their world to the masses in his memoir, “Spare.”
Story time is at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays here at the library with Miss Charlotte. We are also in the process of starting the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program here at the library. Check out their website https://1000 booksbeforekindergarten. org/ to learn more about the program. We have new board books for the children to read here or check out and take home to read.
Check it all out at the library.
