New books, new readers at the Spur library

Fall is in the air. Finally! I was beginning to think summer got stuck. We have had 100-plus degree days since May. The cooler temps and rain are a welcome change.

What could be better than curling up with a good book on these cooler nights, and thanks to the grant received from the Tocker Foundation we have several new good books for you to choose from.

We received quite a few last week from one of the most prolific authors of all time, James Patterson. According to Wikipedia, Patterson’s books have sold more than 425 million copies, and he is the first person to sell one million e-books. His total income over a decade is an estimated $700 million. He must be doing something right.

“E.R. Nurses” by Patterson and Matt Eversman is not one you would expect from Patterson. This book is about real people—the ones who save lives every day. This is from America’s greatest unsung heroes and shows the life-or-death intensity of working on the front lines.

Patterson teams up again with Maxine Paetro for another in the Women’s Murder Club series. In this thrilling novel, Detective Lindsay Boxer takes a vow to protect a young woman from a serial killer long enough to see her twentyfirst birthday.

In his ever popular Alex Cross series we have “Target.” Cross teams up with the Secret Service and the FBI to take down a dangerous threat that could destroy America when a ring of six elite assassins strikes D. C.

Another one from Patterson is “Escape.” Detective Billy Harney chases down a billionaire crime boss and a prison escape artist while a young girl’s life hangs in the balance in this thriller Ellis.

Patterson and Shan Serafin authored “Three Women Disappear.” Sarah, his personal chef; Anna, his wife; and Serena, his maid—all three had access to a murder victim’s home. And all three women are missing. Accountant Anthony Costello has a talent for manipulating both numbers and people, turning losses into profits, enemies into allies and vice versa. When Costello is found murdered in his own home, three suspects had motive. All three had access to his home. And all three women are missing.

Are they in the wind or in the grave?

“Murder of Innocence” is a true-crime book by Patterson.

Dive into two dark stories of crime and murder from the New York Times bestselling author inspired by true crime horrors where murder isn't always the worst thing that can happen to you.

Check it all out at the library.
