Norely Gray, a representative from South Plains Community Action Partnership, will be set up at the library on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, to help anyone who needs to get enrolled into insurance. Ms. Gray is trained and certified to help individuals apply and enroll into insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. South Plains Community Action Partnership is dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
Thanks to the South Plains Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up Community Grant, we will be reactivating four Internet hotspot devices for our patrons to check out. When we offered the devices before they proved to be very helpful to patrons who for whatever reason did not have internet in their home. They were used for a variety of reasons, from homework to job search. We will notify the public on social media when they are available to be checked out. Hopefully the T-Mobile hotspots will be ready for check out soon. I have been working with T-Mobile’s representative to get these devices up and going.
My daughter and I had a great time this weekend at the Lubbock Book Festival. We met several authors, and I was able to purchase a few new books for the library. One of the writers we met was Western novelist Monty R. Garner of Oklahoma, author of the Card Jordan series. We now have all four of the series. The first book of the series is “Card, Kill Them All,” an epic tale of revenge.
In book two of the series, “Card, Man of Justice,” he’s ready to start a new life with his fiancée. But will a special assignment from the president mean the end of all his dreams? After a harrowing journey to avenge his family’s killers, Card Jordan is finally home and ready to begin a new life with the girl of his dreams. A favorite author of a few of our patrons is local Western romance author Linda Broday, a New York Times bestselling author. We have book one of her new Hangman’s Daughter series, “Winning Maura’s Heart.”
