DONNICE CARRUTH | SPECIAL TO THE TEXAS SPUR
Please join the Friends of the Library for fun, fellowship and food on Saturday August 13 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., for a Hamburger/ Hotdog fundraiser supper at the Dickens County Spur Public Library. For a suggested donation of $10 you will get a hamburger or hot dog, chips, dessert and a drink. We will also be having a silent auction with donations from around the county going on during the meal. The winning bidders will be announced at the end of the evening.
Our annual school supply drive is winding down, but there is still time for you to come to the library and get the supplies needed for your children to begin the 2022–23 school year. All students who attend a school or are home schooled in Dickens can come to the library and fill out the form to get most or all of their school supplies provided by the Friends of the Library and our most generous donors. We realize some of the secondary teachers will give a list after school starts and we will do our best to have what they will require on hand. Even if it is after school has started please don’t hesitate to come by and we will do our best to help out.
Thanks to a generous donor we have three Daniel Silva novels to add to our collection. The 2019 New York Times #1 bestseller, “The New Girl,” is a thriller of deception, betrayal, and vengeance.
“The Other Woman” is a modern masterpiece of espionage, love, and betrayal.
It was #1 on the New York Times bestseller list as well as USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal in 2018 and Kirkus called it the Best Book of 2018. Also a New York Times, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal bestseller in 2017 we have “House of Spies.”
The Three Musketeers of the Wild West unleash their own brand of justice on the American frontier in the newest adventure featuring The Jackals by the legendary bestselling authors William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone in “Dead River” now on our shelves in large print. Also in large print we have USA Today’s bestselling author Ralph Cotton’s “Bad River.”
Stone Barrington must track down an enemy intent on disturbing law and order in the latest actionpacked thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods in “Shakeup.” From #1 New York Times bestselling thriller writer Kathy Reichs we have her twenty-first novel of suspense, “Cold Cold Bones” featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan who, after receiving a box containing a human eyeball, uncovers a series of gruesome killings eerily reenacting the most shocking of her prior cases. Check it out at the library.
