The Patton Springs Rangers met the Spur JV Bulldogs on the stomping grounds of the Motley County Matadors last Thursday night. With both teams looking to send the other away in defeat, the fans of both sides would be in for a great game.
Spur started the game with the ball but would struggle on their first two drives, fumbling twice. The Rangers had come to play and would decide to draw first blood with senior Matthew Moncrief finding junior David Reyna for a 30-yard reception. This set up sophomore Ralph Garza for a three-yard run in for the touchdown.
The Bulldogs, after a long 2nd quarter of no scoring on both ends, would decide to do something in the third, scoring twice within a three-minute period.
The Rangers fired back with another touchdown as well.
With both teams firing on all cylinders in the 3rd, the crowd was on the edge of their seats.
Unfortunately, with the score 14-13 Bulldogs, the game was called midway through the third due to lighting strikes. The Bulldogs walked away with a one-point victory over the Rangers.
The Rangers will be open this week and look to bounce back on September 27 when they will square off against the Loop Longhorns in Loop.
