German-headquartered global renewable energy group BayWa r.e., parent company of the Mozart wind energy project based partly in Kent, Fisher and Stonewall Counties, last month made a donation of $10,000 to Kent County support projects of the county’s Senior Citizens Center.
According to county judge Jim C. White, Kent County has benefited from the firm’s donations over the past ten years, as part of the tax abatement arrangement with the county.
The money will support general operations of the center, as needed.
In past years the company’s donation has supported the volunteer fire department, EMS, public transportation and library, White said.
Headquartered in Munich, BayWa specializes in trading, logistics and services within the agriculture, energy and building materials market. In the U.S., it has established several wind farms named after German composers. The 30 megawatt Mozart wind farm consists of 12 wind turbines providing renewable energy to 7,000 homes, according to the company’s website.
