We have been really busy adding new books to our shelves.
Released in February of this year, we have the electrifying psychological thriller “Serpentine.” Psychologist Alex Delaware and detective Milo Sturgis search for answers to a brutal decades-old crime in this suspense novel written by New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Kellerman.
Another favorite of library patrons is Stuart Woods. His latest in the Stone Barrington series was released two weeks ago. In “Double Jeopardy” Barrington faces down danger on all sides; the book is now on our shelves in large print.
Also available in large print is Danielle Steel’s “The Affair,” about “the painful journey to discover who you are, what you want, and how much forgiveness and compromise you are capable of in order to be loved. It’s about finding yourself at the crossroads of life when everything is on the line. It’s about the hard lessons we are forced to learn about others and ourselves.” Right up until its final twist, this gripping novel is full of powerful insights about who we love, how much—and even how much we love ourselves.
The Goodreads website says this about the latest from the master of horror. “‘Later’ is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King’s classic novel ‘IT,’ Later is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.” “Later” is now available at the library.
Released just last month by #1 New York Times bestseller Harlan Coben, “Win” has a 4.5 star rating out of 5 on the Amazon website with over 3,500 reviews.
And #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense Dean Koontz takes readers on a twisting journey of lost love, impossible second chances, and terrifying promises in his latest psychological thriller, “The Other Emily.”
Not released last week, last year, or the last decade are two of the newest books on our shelves. Both books are written by Wilber Smith: “Sunbird” (1972) and “Eagle in the Sky” (1974). Smith’s books have graced the library shelves for many years, but one of our patrons is an avid fan and requested we get more by Smith. Apparently he isn’t the only one; Stephen King says when it comes to historical novelists, Wilber Smith is the best.
We always try to please the patrons of the library. Some requests are harder to find than others. A request was made for the DVD of the 2010 film “Letters to Juliet.” That particular movie is on backorder, but we will keep trying.
We did get several new DVDs in last week. Rated PG and starring Angelina Jolie we have the 2014 Disney flick “Maleficent.” If superheroes are to your liking, we have “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) starring Robert Downey Jr. and “Captain Marvel” (2019) with an all-star cast including Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law. Both of these are rated PG-13. Also rated PG-13 is “Pitch Perfect 3” (2017).
If heartwarming family fare is more your style we have “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” (2009) starring Richard Gere. This inspiring movie based on a true story is rated G.
Check it all out at the library.
