Things are coming together nicely for this year’s 98th Annual Motley-Dickens Counties’ Old Seltters Reunion and Rodeo, according to Dickens County Judge Kevin Brendle, representing the organizers.
“One change to the entry fee structure will make it easier on folks,” said Brendle. “There will just be one admission at the gate, $15, instead of a $10 admission at the rodeo grounds gate and another $10 admission to rodeo events once you got there.”
The Old Folks’ Dance is free both Friday and Saturday nights, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A 9:30 p.m event follows on Friday night featuring the Cadillac Jack Band, and at 9:30 on Saturday Jason Nutt and Highway 70 will wrap up the festivities.
In addition to a chock-full schedule of cutting, racing, and riding events, including junior events in mutton busting and Shetland bronc riding, the threeday event features a parade, a memorial service, washer pitching, and comeptitions for tiny tots.
A separate vendors’ market will be held Friday and Saturday at the Lions Club pavilion in Roaring Springs as well.

“We’re really building up this event toward our hundredth anniversary coming up in a couple of years,” said Brendle.
Organizers pointed out at our press time that there are two corrections on the poster that's been widely shared around the region: on Thursday, roping event #8 is an Open Draw instead of an Enter Up; on Saturday the #9 roping event is an Enter Up, not a slide. The poster in this week's issue is correct.
