Spur and Jayton will advance track athletes to the State competition in Austin May 6–8. The two 1A schools competed among 31 peers across West Texas and the Panhandle in the Regional Track Meet at South Plains College in Levelland Friday and Saturday.
The Spur boys were runners-up to Paducah in the boys’ track competition.
Area students advancing in relay races are Girls 4x100 Meter Relay, 2nd place, Paducah (Houston Carrasco, Aiden Piper, Tasharra Richardson and Harleigh Detwiler); Boys 4x100 Meter Relay, 1st place, Paducah (Jimmy Rogers, Darius Flemons, Cord Piper and Mark Flemons) and 2nd place, Spur (Cory Hamilton, Craig Leary, Gunnir Bateman, Le’Zhane Walker); Boys 4x200 Meter Dash, 1st place- Paducah (Jimmy Rogers, Mark Flemons, Cord Piper, Darius Flemons) and 2nd place, Spur (Cory Hamilton, Craig Leary, Gunnir Bateman, Le’Zhane Walker).
In the boys 800 Meter Run, 2nd place went to Brandon Passmann of Guthrie.
Those advancing in other races are Boys 110 Meter Hurdles, 2nd place, Cord Piper, Paducah; Girls 100 Meter Dash, 2nd place, Brynn Yanez, Jayton; Boys 100 Meter Dash, 2nd place, Mark Flemons, Paducah; Boys 3200 Meter Run, 1st place, Brandon Passmann, Guthrie and 2nd place, Jorden Zarate of Spur; Boys 400 Meter Dash, 2nd place, Blake Beard, Valley; Boys 200 Meter Dash, 1st place, Darius Flemons, Paducah; Boys 1600 Meter Run, 1st place, Brandon Passmann, Guthrie and 2nd place, Jorden Zarate, Spur.
In field events, those advancing are Girls Discus, 1st place, Abigail Jones, Guthrie; Girls High Jump, 1st place, Coulter Reel, Guthrie; Boys Long Jump, 2nd place, Jaxon Edwards, Valley; Girls Shot Put, 1st place, Abigail Jones, Guthrie and 2nd place, Katherine McGee, Jayton; Girls Triple Jump, Brenna Francis, 2nd place, Silverton.
