Palace Theater finishing repairs, preparing for new season

Movie fans will be happy to know that Spur’s historic Palace Theater has completed repairs following the February winter storm damage—and is also taking the oopportunity of the hiatus to install a new, insulated ceiling with the goal of showing movies again in June.

The tentative first date for a movie is Saturday, June 12. A 2021 film, “Godzilla vs. Kong” is planned to be shown as a special “school’s out” tribute to area high school students, and admission for all high school students will be $2.

The movie is rated PG-13 for occasional instances of strong language, creature violence and destruction, and may not be suitable for small children. The Palace has plans for movies later in the summer that are animated films for children.

Sponsored by Madcap Media of Spur, “Godzilla vs. Kong” is planned to be shown at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, and concessions and ticket booth will open at 6:30 p.m. Adult admission prices will be $5.
