The Patton Springs Rangers traveled to Guthrie last Friday night for their second District game of the season. With the Rangers coming off of a tough loss at home last week, they would anticipating that he night ready for a fight.
The Jaguars would open the game up drawing first blood on the night, proving that they were there to defend their turf. The home team stood at 22–12 to close the first quarter.
But the Rangers refused to go down without a fight.
Early in the second quarter, sophomore Michael Garza (#20) made a beautiful 40-yard onside kick return to put the Rangers back in reach.
The Jaguars provedresilient, however, answeringwithtwomoretouchdown receptions and leaving the half at 38–18.
The Rangers would rally back after the half hungry for a fight.
Early in the third quarter the Rangers would find answers in senior Devon Reyna (#12) receiving a 35-yard touchdown reception from Garza.
As the Jags fought through the night to maintain the lead, the Rangers refused to go down without a fight, finding answers from Reyna and senior Juan Salas Jr. (#2). Garza would also help carry the defensive load on the night with a whopping five defensive interceptions.
After an all-out brawl down to the last seconds of the fourth, the Rangers would fall to the Jaguars, who secured the win with a final score of 62–50.
The Rangers will face off on their own turf this Thursday against the Motley County Matadors for their third District game.
