Patton Springs ISD approves 2023-24 budget, tax rate in special meeting Aug. 28

In a special meeting of the Patton Springs Independent School District on Monday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. the meeting was called to order following the School First Public Hearing. Patton Springs ISD received a rating of Superior for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Superintendent Bryan White discussed enrollment and attendance, student and employee awards and honors, school activities, maintenance projects, transportation, security and new VAPE-DAEP regulations and required school board training.

In other actions, trustees voted to to approve Sandra Ramirez as the 2023-24 EMAT coordinator.

Superintendent White then reported on updates on the District Improvement Plan and said that it was revised as needed throughout the year. Trustees unanimously approved the updates.

The board then unanimously approved the GASB 54 committed funds as presented.

Trustees then adopted the 2023-24 budget, including State Compensatory Ed, Accelerated Instruction and PK as presented.

The board then passed a motion to adopt the tax rate of $0.7575.

Superintendent White presented the updated Housing agreement and propane bid. No action was taken.

Trustees approved the 2023-2024 Student Code of Conduct.

The board then voted to continue with current interlocal agreements for transportation and approved the Interlocal Agreement-SLCConsortium (rate).

BusinessManagerBecky Hodges presented the Administrative fiscal procedures, purchasing, internal control and other manuals for review.

The board then approved adjunct faculty for the 2023-2024 school year and approved the Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Patton Springs Independent School District concerning compliance with certain public-school safety and security requirements and other matters related thereto.

Trustees then voted to not permit the district campus to employ or accept as a volunteer a chaplain to provide support, services, and programs for students at this time.

The board then approved the superintendent to file staff development waivers and other TEA waivers as necessary for the 2023-2024 school year.

Trustees then approved the budget amendment and end of year compliance entries.

Following a closed meeting, the board approved the updated stipend list.

The board then approved the Guardians as presented.

Attending were board members Gary Bridge, Clayt Bridge, Lana Burson, Ronda Dalton, Ernest Ramirez and David Keith. Board member Shane Roberts was absent. Superintendent Bryan White, Business Manager Becky Hodges and Principal Sandra Ramirez were present.
