At the recent meeting of Spur ISD trustees, Tanya Phillips was named the the school’s Secondary principal. This is Phillips’ second year in Spur.
Phillips said she has enjoyed getting involved in the community and learning the traditions that make Spur unique. “It’s a great community to raise a family,” she said.
She is married to Taylor, a Lubbock firefighter, and has two children, Tyler and Timberlyn, who attend Spur schools.
Of Phillips’ thirteen years in education, twelve have been with Lubbock ISD (8 as a teacher and 4 as an assistant principal). Last year she taught first grade at Spur ISD.
Phillips earned her degrees and certification from Wayland Baptist University and Lubbock Christian University. She said she looks forward to being on the secondary campus and working with various stakeholders to create positive impacts for students, teachers and the community of Spur.
