For local historians, archeologists and history buffs, one of the most highly anticipated events in Briscoe County is coming up again Saturday, June 10, attheComancheroCanyons Museum. The Comanchero Rendezvous, the signature gathering for the museum, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.
Admission is free, but the museum gladly accepts donations. Its collections of historical artifacts will be on display, but visitors are welcome to bring their items for discussion.
Archaeological experts will be on hand to examine and help to identify arrowhead collections, fossils, or other artifacts.
In addition, the museum will hold an outdoor blacksmith demonstration, showcasing its blacksmith shop, small cabin, windmill, and replica wagons.
Lunch will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. or whenever the hamburgers (freshly grilled right there on the spot!) run out. The cost for luch is $12 and includes a choice of toppings plus potato chips, iced tea, and a cookie. Seating for lunch will be outdoors.
Lunch is free for the museum’s Compadres members. Contact the museum if you would like to become a Compadre. All proceeds from the Rendezvous benefit the museum.
