Rangers fall to Aspermont 70-24 in district opener

The Patton Springs Rangers faced off against the Aspermont Hornets on their district opener last Thursday night.

With the Rangers coming off of a long bye week, they were ready for a fight. The Rangers would come out hungry, looking for first blood with their first two drives pushing into the red zone. The Hornets, however, would stand their ground and keep the Rangers from scoring. The Hornets drew first blood early in the first quarter and would keep it going for the next possession, making the score 0-16 early in the first.

The Rangers would not go quiet, though, as senior Devon Reyna (#12) would lead the Rangers to their first touchdown reception with a 40-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Michael Garza (#20).

The Rangers would then find another answer on the next possession from senior Juan Salas Jr. (#2) on what would be a 75-yard kickoff return.

Although the Rangers gained momentum throughout the game, the Aspermont Hornets would come out on top with their first district win, with a final score of 24-70 Hornets.

The Rangers will face off against the Guthrie Jaguars in Guthrie this Friday.
