The Patton Springs Rangers celebrated their homecoming last Friday night, hosting the Woodson Cowboys.
With the Rangers coming off of several tough losses over the past few weeks, they would come out ready to show out and defend their turf.
Early in the first half, freshman Michael Garza (#20) came alive, connecting older brother Ralph Garza (#21) for a 35-yard touchdown reception. Shortly after, Garza would connect with junior Devon Reyna (#12) for another touchdown reception, this one for 40 yards.
The Rangers seemed unstoppable in the first half, holding the Woodson team to a mere eight points with a score of 24–8 to close out the half.
But the Cowboys would not go down easy.
Coming out in the second half, the opposing team would make several stands against the Rangers and claw their way back into the fight.
Early in the second half, Cowboys scored three touchdowns back to back to back, holding the Rangers defensively.
The Rangers fought back in the fourth with Ralph Garza returning a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, as well as an 45-yard interception return for a score.
But as vigilant as the Rangers were, the Cowboys would have the final word. With several crucial stops in the final quarter of the game, the Cowboys would end the night on top with a score of 52-42.
The Rangers play next at Benjamin, taking on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
