Scrambles and schambles

The weather was beautiful for this week’s scramble and four teams were formed with two teams being paid out.

Mike and Janie Day and James and Kathy Hughes ended the round with 4 under par and a score of 32 to take home the First Place winnings. The team of Andy Daughtry, Daniel Perez, Dana Conrad and Justin Posey shot 3 under par and a score of 33 to earn the Second Place money for the week.

Landon White landed his drive closest to the pin on the No. 8 Hole 6 feet 10 inches from the hole to collect that money pot. No one landed their drive on No. 1 so that pot rolls over and keeps growing.

BOARD MEETING SEPT. 15

The Spur Golf Association board of directors held their regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, September 15.

With the help of several fine folks and a little bit of rain from the good Lord above, the greens are continuing to improve each and every week. A big thank you goes out to a special group of members for the donation of sod that was placed to help out the greens even more. It is appreciated so much! The 4-person Schamble will be held at the course this Saturday, September 24. Teeoff will be at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $200 per team, and a meal will be provided. The raffle ticket drawing for the 2022 Club Car Onward, Ping G425 Max Driver and Odyssey White Hot Putter will take place immediately following the Schamble. If you have not purchased your chance(s) to win one of these great prizes yet, you can contact Lesli Clark at (806) 535-5373 or any SGA board member. Tickets are $100 each. Winners are not required to be present to win.

The annual member meeting will take place on Saturday, October 15 following the Club Championship tournament. Two board member spots are up for election. The term for the new board members will be two years. Nominations will be taken, and voting will take place on October 15 via written ballot by those present. A meal will be provided.

The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 6 p.m. at the Clubhouse. Any and all members are invited to attend. Until next week – Keep counting your blessings! God bless you all!
