Golf Scramble Results October 11. The weather was absolutely perfect for the golf scramble this week. There were enough players to make up five teams by randomly drawing individual golf balls out of the bucket. Two places were paid out. Rolling back to the clubhouse and claiming the firstplace money for the week was the team of Tyler Luke, Janie Day, Aubrey Luke and Wes Joplin, with 4 under par and a score of 32. Taking home the secondplace money for the week was the team of Eddie Clark, Floyd Starkey, Larry Bass and Cammie Walker with 3 under par and a score of 33. A huge shoutout goes to Dana Conrad, with her beautiful drive landing 33 feet 9 inches from the cup on the No. 8 hole to claim those winnings for the week! Way to go, Dana! No one landed on the No. 1 hole, so that money pot continues to grow. We will only have a couple more scrambles before this year’s Scramble Time Tuesday season ends on November 1. Come out and join in on the fun!
The Club Championship Tournament was held at the course on Saturday, October 15. The weather was perfect, and 15 men and 4 women came out to participate and attempt to claim the trophies and bragging rights for the year.
The winner of the Men’s Open flight was Tyler Luke with his score of 76. The winner of the Women’s Open Flight was Betsy Arnold, with a score of 125. Claiming the title of Senior Men’s Champion this year is Floyd Starkey, with his score of 84. Kathy Hughes is this year’s Senior Women’s Flight Champion, with her score of 89. Congratulations to all of the 2022 champions!
Closest to the pin on the No. 8 Hole was Riley Abbott with his drive landing 11 feet 8 inches from the cup. Thank you to IV Drip Therapy for the donation to support that contest for the tournament!
Following the tournament, a brisket meal was provided by the association and cooked by Reid Arnold. It was delicious! Thank you, Reid, for cooking and all of your help for the course throughout the year. We appreciate you.
The annual members’
meeting took place following the meal. Woodie McArthur opened the meeting by introducing the current SGA board members. Treasurer Betsy Arnold gave her report on the association’s funds, what has been done with the money raised over the past year, and what plans are coming in the future.
The floor was opened up for nominations for the board member positions being vacated by Woodie McArthur and Riley Abbott, whose terms have expired. Nominated and voted in by the members to fill those spots are Wes Joplin and Freddy Gonzalez. Welcome to the board, guys— we know you will do a great job!
The meeting was adjourned and the newly formed board went into a closed session to elect officers.
